Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Declaring is easy: just email the undergraduate adviser at [email protected] to set up an advising appointment.

Yes, courses that fulfill a GE Explorations requirements and a major requirement will fulfill both requirements.
Yes, you can use both lower and upper division courses toward your major.

While some community colleges offer direct equivalents to all of SDSU's major preparation (lower division) courses, do not assume that they are equivalent. You must wait until the transcript evaluators have determined transfer credit (usually during your first semester). If you cannot wait for that determination, log on to www.assist.org (the web-based clearinghouse for articulation agreements among all California institutions of higher education) to determine if agreements exist for your course. For questions, contract the undergraduate advisor at [email protected].

We encourage you to study abroad. (Studying abroad, however, is significantly harder for students in the teaching major.) Your study abroad courses may count toward the major even if SDSU does not offer an exact equivalent. If SDSU does not offer an equivalent course, you must petition to have your study abroad course count toward the major. Save the course syllabus so you can include it in your petition. For more information, contact the undergraduate advisor at [email protected].
